My Dream Watch!

When I opened the package, I was surprised with how this watch looked even better than it did on the web sites. The three small windows on the face are easy to see, but are not as bright as they look in the picture. The silver frame around the face and the hands stand out in a dark background, which is so cool! This watch is not small like baby-G, but is compact and looks like all you need for everyday life is packed inside.
The atomic system and solar power are really convenient as other reviewers describe them, and you don't have to do anything to keep this watch working accurately. I just grab it and put it on my wrist in the morning! Even though it's casual, it can be worn for work as well as recreation. Of course, this is G-Shock, so you don't have to worry about doing damage to it at all, while washing your hands, taking a nap, and even playing sports in the rain!
Personally, I like analog watches better than digital ones because you can quickly see the time in stead of having to picture the clock face in your head. But it's convenient to have digital display, too, to view the exact minutes and seconds. This watch is basically analog, but has digital display, as well, so you can enjoy the best of both worlds! Just a note, this watch doesn't have second hand (but you can see seconds on the digital display), and the minute hand moves every twenty seconds. It's kinda fun to watch.
The only change that I would make is to have the whole face illuminated, including digital display. The LED light only lights up the analog portion of the watch from the bottom of the watch face, and you cannot see the digital display in the dark (You can see the analog portion clearly without any trouble). So you shouldn't expect to set the alarm in the dark.
But over all, I'm quite satisfied with this watch and would recommend it to anyone looking for a tough, reliable, and good looking timepiece. |

| I was trying to decide between this one and the AWG101. Biggest difference I could see were the bezels and color, not worth the extra $20.00 or so. This watch is really nice looking, very light yet solidly built. I pretty much do not take it off. One of the best features is the solar re-charging. I do not know how many Ironman's or other sport watches I have ruined by replacing the battery and breaking the seal. Kind of freaky when I first took this watch out of the box and it started to set itself, then stopped at the exact time!! COOL. A little bulky, but not huge. The light is fine, it does what it is supposed to do and is a cool orange. Great watch and highly recommended! |
Very good watch + light

Besides the atomic time keeping and solar recharge it also has an excellent LED light. I use the LED light to obviously read the time, but also to see in pitch black areas around the house at night. It is like a mini flashlight if your eyes are adjusted to the dark. I can make out the thermostat reading, where light switches are, etc. The hourly chime is also very helpful, and the alarm I find is louder than most which is great!

Bought this watch for everyday use and the package arrived very quickly from here, thanks Amazon!
The watch itself looks nice, i like this type over digital, i like the fact that one can chance different digital displays on the face, one can chance from digital display of the left hand circle from time, Day,to Month/date. The light seems to work fine.
I love the battery function where the battery gets charged when one is out under the sun or any strong light source.
This is my first ever Atomic watch so I can't really comment on how this watch is since i have nothing to compare to but so far it's been working great and i'm looking forward to not changing time in the future!
This watch is also quiet comfortable to wear, I slept while wearing it and didn't feel a thing.
Overall, this is an excellent everyday watch and you can't beat the price here! |
Rugged, feature rich, super-accurate

I've had this watch for a little over 2 years now and it's got the scars to prove it :)
It's a G-Shock so it's supposed to be this way. I live in rugged country and, whenever I go out into the rugged outdoors, a Gucci just won't do it. I'm taking the G-Shock and I don't worry about getting it scratched and it got scratched more than once.
On the functions side, it synchronizes every night with the mother of all US clocks in Colorado. By the way, just because it does it for me it's not a guarantee that it will do it everywhere. The farther you are from Colorado the more iffy the sync feature is but, it will try to sync every night and, if you see that it fails repeatedly, you should try leaving it in a different spot - in my case, it will sync when left on the second floor but not from the first.
Other functions include the ability to show the time digitally, multiple time zones, daylight savings time auto adjustment, illuminated display, stop watch, calendar and, of course it's solar powered. Even though I can't say that I cared much about exposing it to the light, 2 years later, the battery indicator continues to show 'hi' (meaning 'high').
Besides scratches, the only defect I noticed was that following last fall's daylight savings time adjustment the analog minute hand fell one minute behind. The digital time display is still perfectly accurate though. I am curious if it's going to self-correct this coming Spring adjustment. We shall see. But, maybe I'm going to buy me a new one soon. |

| I was little surprised when the manual says..time sync would be automatic with built in transmitter-receiver..great concept and the watch fits in my hand perfectly,..dial is nicely designed..color combination is very good..the band is also comfortable..settings are as usual little confusing but that would be for few days.. |
Great watch; one minor quibble

I anguished over the choices for solar watches for quite a while. I read tons of reviews and checked out several options in stores. I finally settled on this Casio G-Shock and am very happy.
The first cool thing about this watch hit me when I took it out of its box after getting it from UPS: the hands immediately started twirling. When the watch notices that it is in the dark for several hours, it goes into powersave mode and shuts down the digital displays, but keeps the analog hands moving. After several days, the hands move up to the 12 o'clock position and it essentially goes into a sleep state. As soon as it is exposed to ample light, it wakes up and starts keeping time again. As a result, when I received the watch, it was fully charged despite not being exposed to light for months. Note that you can also turn off powersave mode.
I live on the East coast in a house with tons of tall trees all around it. Even in this setting, I have found a few good locations in my house for syncing up to the time server in Colorado. The watch dealt with daylight savings time just fine and keeps good time. The stop watch and countdown timer are easy to use
Minor quibble: I wish the hands were glow-in-the-dark along their entire lengths instead of only at the tips. Telling the time based on them is difficult, but the LED light does a decent job. |
A wonderful watch that always works and is always set

I stopped wearing a wrist watch about ten years ago when I started carrying a cell phone. Why have two time devices? In the last few years though I've started ditching my cell phone when I don't want to be disturbed. That left me with no time piece. My cell phone doesn't like to go swimming either.
So first I wanted a watch that I wouldn't have to keep replacing batteries in, 1. because it is a pain, but 2. I find that good water resistant watches often start leaking after the battery is replaced. Never opening the back of the watch is a good way to maintain the seal.
Second I have some of the radio controlled clocks around the house and I really like that they are always correct without me messing with them. So I wanted the same in a watch.
Finally it needed to be tough, because I am hard on my watches. When I was younger I had good luck with Casio and the "G-Shock" watch was always the "coolest." thing.
My wife dislikes big chunky digital watches though. This one with the analog face was a great compromise. It still has digital, and it is still durable, but the analog hands make it just a tad more classy.
I LOVE this watch. Here are some points:
1. The solar charging works great. I was afraid of letting it die, but it really doesn't have to be in light that much. It goes into power saving mode at night and stays there if you don't bring it into the daylight. So you can leave it in a drawer for weeks. On my wrist, even with long sleeves, it still manages to stay fully charged to "Hi" most of the time. Remember, too, if it does die, it will set itself with the radio when it charges up again.
2. The radio reception does work, but you do have to experiment with where to leave it at night. I just kept putting it in a different spot on my house each night until I found a spot where it was consistently getting the time overnight. Remember that weather affects this too, so try a few nights in each spot, and don't worry if it misses a night once in a while. You really don't need a set EVERY night. It will keep accurate time for a long while between setting itself to the radio.
3. The light is a slight disappointment in that it does NOT illuminate the digital sections. You get the time from the hands, but no date/day/etc. Hopefully you know what day it is. :) For my use it works fine. I usually have my cell phone if I need more than just the time. However, if you compare this to an analog watch with glow in the dark hands it is wonderful. I find the glow in the dark hands to be next to pointless on all but the most expensive diver's watches (and I don't own one of those). The light works great on the hands and it works every time and any time.
In short, great watch. If you want tough, solar, radio set and hands on the face, this is it! |
Very nice and rugged watch

Pros:
20 Bar water resistance
Solar/atomic
Easy to adjust home time zone
Analog and digital time displays
Stylish and comfortable ( big watch but light on the wrist )
Buttons are not easily accidentally pressed
Cons:
Light doesn't stay on for long when pressed ( not a big deal )
If you are an outdoorsman its a great choice. If you want a watch you never have to take off and has a decently loud alarm it is also a good choice. I dont see any reason not to get this watch if you are in the market for one.

The Casio Men's AWG100-1A G-Shock Multi-Band Solar Atomic Analog Watch arrived on time, exactly as predicted by Amazon. The box was in perfect condition. My wife watched me open the box, at the kitchen table, and low and behold, the instant the kitchen light hit the face of the watch, the hour hand started to move. It moved to a different time zone than Los Angles,my home town; in fact it moved to a town in the central time zone, somewhere in Minnesota, 2 hours later than Los Angeles. According to the date, it have been in the box at least 2 months and in that time it was exactly 8 seconds slow, amazing! I checked the battery charge by pressing button C, the reading was HI. As a side note: the owners manual is 3 1/4" by 2" high and 76 pages thick. The print is about 5 or 6 points, very small. So, on Google, I typed "casio, module No 4765" and pressed enter. Up came an address for the module, clicked on it and I was able to download the module in PDF format. The whole 76 page miniature manual prints out in 6 pages, 8 1/2 x 11. Took it to Fed Ex Ginko and had the 6 pages enlarged to 11 x 17 inches and very readable. (approx $2.50) Anyway, I took my time and read the whole 6 pages. and then followed the recommendation to set the home town FIRST! Then, as an octogenarian,(86), I sat outside in the sun for 8 minutes with the watch looking at the sun, because the manual said that 8 minutes of sun would translate into 7 months of battery life. Casio keeps stressing to expose the watch to light as much as practical. I find it easy when driving in LA to hold my left wrist facing the sun whenever it is shining in the car.
Now about getting the nightly Ft Collins Colorado time hack. Incidentally, if the watch was only off by about 8 seconds after 2 months, missing an update from Ft Collins is no big deal. Anyway, I only have missed a time update once in the first month of use. Don't laugh, but I use a new roll of toilet paper to hold the watch and I place in the bathroom about 7 feet from the window. The band fits neatly on the roll with the 12 o'clock position facing the window. I had a map of the USA and determined that the 12 o'clock position of the watch should face about 45 degrees to the right of North, to be looking at Ft Collins. The watch lays flat on the roll of paper. It works every night. Of course, I will find a permanent substitute for the toilet paper in the future.
The watch is very comfortable on my left wrist. I should mention that the band was too long for my wrist, so my local shoe maker simply cut off about 1/2 inch. I could have cut it myself. I'm surprised at how light the watch is for its size. I now wear it every where. I do not miss a sweep second hand! I wear spectacles and have no trouble at all reading the digital features.
I am happy with the watch and if it lives up the reputation it enjoys, I will let you know how it performed for 14 years when I reach 100. |

| This is a fantastic watch...The second i took it out the box i was amazed. The light hit it and the atomic timekeeping began without me doing anything. I definitely would recommend this watch to anyone and everyone. I constantly receive compliments on this watch at work. i purchased this watch because i needed a durable watch out in the field (paramedic field). I think the best thing about this watch is the atomic timekeeping. I left state for the weekend and all i had to do was change states and it automatically adjusted according to that time (analog remained the same but digital changed). I guess the only downfall would be the backlight which is located at the bottom of the watch. The light only illuminates the analog portion of the watch and remains on for only 2 seconds (seriously...no joke!) besides that it is a great buy. |

I was looking for a solar Casio watch with a coutndown timer that was also analog. I just prefer the look of analog watches. I was willing to sacrifice that for a compass watch, but the only solar compass watches had more features (and price) then I wanted.
I settled on this watch because it looks good. From past experiences G-shocks and Casios in general are very durable. It has the added bonus of being atomic so I can be assured of always having an accurate time. Plus because it is atomic it set itself date and time as soon as I opened the box. That was really cool to see. It also gets a new signal each evening/ early morning.
The countdown timer is great. Very easy to set and to read. I was worried about the size of the digital windows but they are easily big enough to read with still having the overall watch look good. Solar to me was a great added bonus. I really like the idea of not having to get new watch batteries and the rated water resistence of 660 feet will not be compromised. Even though I have had it for a short time I went swimming with it, boating with it, showered with it, no problems.
The watch face size I think is pretty good. It might be a little small for people looking for a large face, and perhaps a little big for people looking for a small face, but it will appeal to a large number of people. A good size for the average man's wrist. I also went to the time.gov web site and the watch is indeed synched down to the second with the offical time. Pretty wild that these can out-perform in terms of accuracy thousand dollar time pieces.
Two other things attracted me to this particular model. One it states that on a fully charged battery it will last for 7 months. I am not certain this is for all Casio solars or just some of them. But not all the descriptions state 7 months. Also not all the Casios with stop-watch also specifically state that they have countdown timers. Since I really wanted a countdown timer for when I garden, I choose this one to be sure. |

| I love it, it's really great. Everything work perfect, the atomic calibration, the solar charge, alarm, etc. It's a little bit complicated to set up all the stuff, but following the manual explanation you can do what you want. The manual is very easy to understand and reading. I like it, it's amazing. |
THIS IS A FINE MODERATELY SIZED G-SHOCK

| Casio's AWG100-1A is an excellent selection IF you have an average to small size wrist. This is NOT a large watch like many currently in vogue. The overall width of the stainless steel case (exclusive of the rubber protection) is a mere 40mm, which used to be considered a full-sized man's watch -- no longer. Today, a 40mm watch is considered "unisex." The black rubber protection (armor) adds another 7mm to the overall diameter, which gives the watch more presence. The diameter of the mineral lens is a approximately 35mm, which is smallish. Nevertheless the white skeletal hands, face markings on the charcoal gray dial, and 3 sub-dials (ports) are very adequate and the information they contain is legible. The night light is very not uniform but acceptable. The watch has a 200 meter WR and appears to be very well constructed and durable -- as G-Shocks should be. The watch is very "classic" in appearance is has no pretenses of being ultra-techy. At a street price of just over $80 for a G-Shock Solar-Atomic, this is a great buy. This could be a perfect "beater" that would be great for all but the most formal occasions. You cannot beat Casio's dependability. For me, this is a keeper. |

Had to replace my old G Shock solar watch and decided to get this one. G shock watches are built to last and that's why I get them. I love the look of this watch with a primary analog face. It also has digital displays for time and date as well. My only concern is that it lights with a yellow light from the bottom that works pretty well. However, I would rather have had an indiglo back light. But overall, I'm pleased with G-shock as always.
1 week update. I have to say that I would have to give the watch 3.5 to 4 stars out of 5 after a week. The main reason is the lighting. Once again the only light is yellow from the bottom that really only shows the analog hands. I went running at dusk and you could not see the stopwatch or digital windows at all with the watches light. Makes it very difficult to use any digital displays without outside lighting. Miss my old indiglo. |

I bought this because of the solar and atomic features, so not to be concerned with the power supply - after all, if all hell breaks loose, where would we find batteries?! ;-)
Anyway, it works great, keeps awesome time, has a sleep mode when not being worn/used....and it's G-SHOCK tough!
Highly recommend.

| This watch exceeded my expectation. I usually wear analog watches. This has the benefits of digital with analog appeal. I travel alot. I tend to get watches with significant water resistance as well since I dive from time to time depending on my vacations. It is not a dive watch but does alright as long as you do not push the buttons when diving. Time synchronization is great. It syncs from Seattle downtown without problems. Who cares if you are in Hawaii and it does not get a signal. If you are worry about that, you got the wrong idea about Hawaii. Mountain biking, rock climbing, watersports, etc. NO worries. It also looks good, though a little big. The dial is smaller than the dimensions specified so it may not be as big as you think if you are crunching those measurements in you head. |

I purchased this watch for my brother-in-law who is a construction laborer. He tears up everything on the job so I was seeking a durable, quality watch, that would be most likely to withstand the type of abuse it would endure. I reviewed multiple brands of watches and quickly decided on the Casio G-Shock series. Then chose this particular model primarily due to the styling, price, solar powered, shock resistant, waterproof and the atomic timekeeping function.
The watch is very stylish and attractive although masculine. It is not massive and over-sized as many watches of this type are. It is of a reasonable size, smaller than most diver watches of any brand and smaller than most G-Shocks. The watch did self-adjust utilizing the "atomic timekeeping function" shortly after opening the package. Since, it has been worn constantly except when he sleeps. It has been kayaking, is in fact waterproof, has withstood mild abuse from shock and maintained solid and accurate time. The watch is more or less trouble free as once you set the country code you need not worry about it. He has used the alarm on a couple occasions and the gold colored light will sufficiently light the face of the watch for checking time in the dark. I have not personally witnessed him using any of the watches other functions, such as stop-watch feature.
I would recommend this watch to anyone with a demanding job or who is routinely exposed to the weather and harsh conditions. Although I am not routinely in the elements I do intend to purchase myself one merely for the styling and fact it is waterproof/solar powered/self setting time. The price is excellent for this quality of a watch. Upon registering the watch at [...] they extended the warranty another year! |

Rugged watch looks good

I've only had the watch a few days but my impression is very positive. It is a little thicker than I expected, but I believe that comes from being in the g-shock line. It is very good looking, as I'd hoped it would be from the pictures. Overall this is a win for Casio, and I'm glad to have bought it.
Pros: Durable and good looking. It looks like you could drive on this thing and still find it ticking away. I worried about going to the rubber band, as I haven't had one of those in a long time, but I find it fits well, and looks like it will hold up very well over time. It is solar and atomic, so there won't be much fiddling necessary to keep it running and accurate. The light shines brightly enough and with the raised tick edge with the second marks it is very easy to see the time. It has an alarm, a countdown timer, and a stopwatch function which cover most of the basic needs I had.
Cons: There are a few cons, though none so big as to make me regret the purchase. The light does not stay on long, even if you hold the button down. I suppose this is to prevent a power drain even if it is wedged against something that is holding the light on, but I would think it could stay on for 10 or 20 seconds if you were holding it down. The atomic clock receiver seems very weak. It has a lot of trouble receiving updates, and I don't have a north-facing window in a convenient spot. I expect that it will synchronize enough that this will not be a big issue, but it is something I may keep an eye on. The 'glow' paint on the dials and hour marks is just not very powerful. I can't really see them unless I go from a very bright spot to a completely dark room instantly. They do not charge with the led light that I can tell at all. As mentioned by someone else, it is completely unnecessary to have a digital 'dial' dedicated to displaying the atomic clock last synchronized to. it would have been more useful to have the date in one, and day in the other, or some other more useful info. I will _always_ be syncing to US60. I do not need something to tell me that. I wish it had a second-hand... just my personal preference. These are a lot of little gripes, but this is still probably the closest to ideal in this price category.
The biggest problem I see is that it will be very hard to kill this watch to justify a new one someday. If you want a tough, low-maintenance watch with some good features, this looks like a winner. |

I love this watch. I spent a long time window/screen shopping before I decided to drop my hard earned money on a watch. I wanted a watch that I didn't have to ever wind, change the battery, worry about breaking, or decide if it matches my outfit.
This is that watch. It has everything you could need. I treat my stuff pretty rough so I am always looking for products that can handle being beaten up and bashed around. I would say that just about the only weak link of this watch will be the band. It's the standard plastic so it will go before the watch ever shows signs of wear.
I can always change the band someday. I have had this watch over three months now and I just love it. With the automatic atomic time sync it always displays accurate time.
I can't say enough about how much I love and depend on this watch. It will be my watch of choice for years to come. |

| My previous watch died so I needed a new watch. (I also have a tendency to crack the crystals on watches.) In researching what's available my requirements were: (1) Analog display (2) Back light (3) Solid construction (4) large time display (5) No-fuss care. This watch has definitely met each of these requirements. (1) Analog display: The display is an analog for hours and minutes. Seconds are digital as are the day and date displays. (2) Back light: The back light effectively lights the watch for viewing in the dark. It's push button and is only on for a few seconds but long enough to read the time. (3) Solid construction: I tend to crack crystals because most watches have convex bubble crystals. This watch crystal is recessed and surrounded by a pretty solid metal and composite structure. The watch is also water resistant for up to 660 feet (200 meters) so I can swim with it. (4) The time display is easy to read for those of us old enough to suffer from Presbyopia without using reading glasses. (5) No-fuss care: The watch is powered by a solar cell and sets the time automatically using radio signals of the US atomic clock. It does time sync once a day and you can view the last update. So far, there was only one day it didn't sync the time. I live on the US East Coast and the time sync is broadcast from Fort Collins, Colorado. So far -- I love this watch! |

| I have read many comments about this watch. Some are favorable and some are not. My experience is that the technical support department is excellent. When this came out of the box I had no idea what to do and called the tech support after failing to find the information easily in manual. They could not have been nicer or more helpful. The watch keeps perfect time and it set itself to the atomic time signal in Colorado every evening. For the price you are getting far more than I am familiar with any competing brand. Easy to read and use this is a winner. |

You can't ask for more, esp. at this price point. Watch looks great. Loaded with features. Practically a zero maintenance everyday watch. Atomic time sync works perfectly. Solar battery remains on High charge with just regular everyday use (moslty inside an office). Couple of minor complaints:
- LED does not illuminate the digital windows, although this has not been a problem for me really
- The lower digital window could have been used to display the day of week. |

| This is a really wonderful looking watch. I have owned few Casio watches before, this one is built with style and solid materials. Some other models' users complained the rechargeable batteries would die. I am not sure how long this one lasts, but I expect it will be long enough before I want to buy another model. The atomic part does not work well with auto DST. It may take at least a day to get adjustment right by itself. Big deal, it only needs to do it twice a year. The only complaint I have is it can not show the date, and day of week digits on one screen. |

| I bought this as a gift for my boyfriend. He had been looking for a sport's watch to wear on weekends or while exercising to replace the one he previously had that broke. This is his first GShock watch and he likes the look of the watch so much, that he always wears it with work attire during the week. He is very impressed with all the features, particulary the way the watch set itself when he chose our time zone and the precision timing that it keeps. He also likes that he can see the day of the week at a glance. I was very pleased with my purchase as it is even nicer in person than in the picture. |

| Like many of you I have a thing for timepieces. Just something about them. Style and function that is practical and smart. I have a number of watches but THIS was the first that I purchased with the radio control ability. I have my eye on others but did not want to spend a bunch for the first time out. I wanted to check out the technology and see for myself that it really was an enhancement and not just frivolous.Well I am happy to report that this watch has made me very happy and secure. Many of my other timepieces require some type of maintenance to keep them running and sharp whether that be batteries or winding or housing in an automatic watch winder. This is cool but you always feel like there is a chicken loose somewhere; something left undone as it were. This watch is such a breath of fresh air!! NO maintenance required in any way! That is amazing. Just take it out of the box and you are good... like FOREVER!! That is so relaxing. For this reason I may just like this watch best of them all.m The face is easy to read and very attractive. The layout is great. To cycle through features and functions is very easy and it is BACKLIT or has a backlight button which many models do not! I have set up a line of cup hooks on the back side of my desk which sits next to a window and when not in use I hang all/any of my solar watches on the little hooks to keep them charged. It works like a dream. So there is a tip for you free for enduring this review. Can even screw cup hooks into a window jamb to hang your solar timepieces on. Great watch, great price, great features, great for worry-free function. Get One!! |

I was very interested in this watch due to its positive reviews, extremely loaded feature set and very reasonable price. The only thing that made me hesitate was that I thought it looked a bit on the bulky side. I'm a pretty skinny guy with slim wrists, so I thought the watch might look a bit awkward on me.
Not the case at all. The watch isn't nearly as bulky as I thought, is light and fits my wrist comfortably. Highly recommended. |

| I read all the reviews of this watch. I was still pleasantly surprised when I received it. When I took it out of the box I was watching for the automatic time set and it was fun to watch the hands automatically adjust to the proper time. I am in a wooded section or CT and my watch gets the time sync for Ft. Collins, CO. almost every night. I do check it daily when I get up and I have not missed more than 1 night yet. I would recommend this watch to anyone that is looking for an atomic watch that is solar powered. The only thing I wish it had is a second hand but I can live with the digital seconds. I knew when I ordered it that the second hand was missing but that is a small price to pay for this watch. I was surprised that is is a light as it is. All in all I really like it. |

| The reviews really helped toward my purchase and under Casio's website you can see additional product features. I've had the watch long enough (6mos) to say what i think about it. I like the sleek, durable looks, and that its lightweight. I also enjoy the AWG 100's "at-a-glance readability. Somehow, the dial with hands contrast in low light in a subtle stealth kind of way. The LED light has a nice amber color i like. I wear a watch constantly,so atomic timekeeping, solar technology, superb water/shock resistance has made this one very fun. |

This is the first review I have written, so that alone should tell you something. This watch is well above its price range. I am in the military in Alaska, and have bought everything from gloves to fly rods with reviews that are great, until you actually put them to the test in Kodiak, AK. This watch has been through it all without the first problem. I can honestly say that this watch has performed 100% in the most extreme conditions the earth has to offer. IF you want a watch that looks good and cannot be broke, look no further. Exactly as advertised.

I previously had an analog-only watch (citizen brand) that my wife bought me. She likes the look of analog watches. The problem was an analog watch, generally has no stop watch, no alarm and (mine anyway) does not track months of varying lengths. That is the day of the month did not track correctly if the month had 30 days vs 31. Well this watch, has BOTH analog and digital displays. So she is happy and so am I. It tracks the day of the month correctly and (though I have not used it yet) has an alarm and a stop watch. So both of us are happy. It claims to track time updates through NIST. I have not been through a DST -> ST change yet (coming soon, so I should see if that really does work. I leave it on the window sill at night so the solar cell can charge up in the morning light. Also I felt that the price was in a good pricepoint for my needs and wallet.
So far I am quite pleased. |

| I still have G-Shock watch from 3 years ago. It works as well as the day I bought it. Being in the appliance repair business it goes through tough beating daily. I love these watches and will be purchasing another in the near future. The new one I purchased is awesome and if I could wear my old one along with it without looking silly I would. My opinion is Timex can't even get close to these now! You have a new customer for as long as I need watches. In fact I'm looking for a new dressier watch since I have these for work now...Thanks again!, Mark Lewandowski |

| Nice watch. Watched the hands move to the time before I could get it out of the plastic wrapping. Why this happens I do not know. I leave it on its side near the front door with no window and it sets itself using the atomic signal so it does not appear to be the hassle that the manual suggests. Also the battery was at HI when I got it and has not dipped below that yet in the month I have had it. This watch is a switch from the pure digital display for me since I don't know when and it is good to be back - probably for good! |
My first G-shock, not too bad

It's my first purchase from Amazon and first Casio G-shock Watch.
The watch looks great, I think I will wear it both casually and for meetings and conferences.
Atomic Timekeeping works like a charm in South Korea(it picks up the signal from Japan).
The resin band is a bit lower quality than I expected and feels a little cheap. However, I've read reviews that G-shock bands last for decades, so I hope I won't need to change it anytime soon.
The displays are clear and easy to read.
The LED back light looks very 1980's style. I expected that it would back light the displays. Instead it is a single yellow lamp at the bottom of the watch face.
I bought this watch cause I needed a sturdy watch and I didn't want to get involved with changing batteries or adjusting the time all the time.
As for Amazon, they had a trial of Prime membership, so using it I got the watch for free in 2 days. |

| Fantastic watch. I'm completely satisfied. I live in SD and it has not missed a signal from Fort Collins since my purhcase. The battery power has always read HI. The band is sporty but the face is good looking enough to wear to work. Like many mentioned in previous reviews, the dial light is kind of a joke but that doesn't concern me. The only useless feature is that is tells wear it is getting the signal for the atomic time update. Unless you travel extremely often and over seas it will probably never change and who really cares if it does change. Overall this is an excellent time piece. I've owned some nice watches but I bought this for working outside, hunting and just an everyday watch. Since I bought it I have worn it everyday and it is by far my favorite I have owned. I only paid $80 for it and after owning it for a few months I would have paid full price. |

| First, I purchased this product from Amazon with confidence in my secure information. Second, after reading several reviews, I selected this watch and it is an excellent watch. I work and work-out at a gym. I have a phobia about germs, I have no problem scrubbing and washing this watch knowing it won't be hurt. If I hit my arm moving weights or moving towels, I know I will not hurt the dial that is recessed in case. Excellent size with no weight to the watch. Excellent time keeping. Lume is out of sight. I own approx. 45 watch's and various prices from high to low, this was an excellent buy at low cost and is one of my BEST watch's. I would HIGHLY recommend my experience with Amazon and Casio. DON'T HESITATE, I am now waiting for my third Casio to arrive, got hooked on a great watch brand. |

| I wanted a rugged watch that told the time. That's what this watch is. Sure it's solar powered and self corrects it's time and has a stop watch and alarm but, I don't really care. The hands are easy to read, it's rugged and it looks good. What more could I ask for? Well, one thing. I wish the little light stayed on for more than a second when I push the button. |

| The watch was my first CASIO G-Shock watch and I absolutely love it. It's comfortable, lightweight, and has a very attractive and mature aspect to it because although its sporty, it had a analog interface with a small digital clock in the center-left. In terms of battery life and functionality, the watch is able to stay at the highest battery level (there's five, level one being the highest) for days without the presence of real outdoor sunlight. Another neat thing about the product is that the default settings have the power-saving function enabled which means it will turn off when placed away in a dark area for a certain amount of time and it re-activates easily at the exact local time. Overall, a great product at a great price! |

| I really enjoy this watch. The time is always correct and no more need to throw away my watch solar power takes care of that. No More Batteries. It's sleek and has a little bulk. A little smaller than expected, but perfect size for me. The lighting is not a full glow so which is different than I'm used to, but still good enough to see everything. I can't say enough on how pleased I am with this purchase. With the atomic timing and Solar power I'll make my money back in no time. |

| This watch is sweet. I wear it all the time. Its not too big, which was a concern when i first ordered it. Feels light on my wrist. Comfortable strap. Easy to read face. Only thing i dont really like about it is the backlight. Its not very bright and you cant read the little screens with it at all. And it only lights up for like a second and a half. But thats enough time to tell what time it is. I really love how it sets itself every morning, before i wake up. also that whole recharging from the sun. thats excellent. its a little confusing to set up the first time, and you'll probably get frustrated by it not setting in the middle of the day. but have patience. it sets at night. something about atmospheric conditions. |

| Got this watch a week ago, and I really like it so far. I have always preferred the look of an analog watch, but appreciate functions such as alarms for when I'm camping. The atomic time setting needed the explanation of the manual, but once figured out, it works fine for me out here in the country side. I think it looks professional enough to wear to work but tough enough to take camping. All in all a great watch for what it is. |

| This watch is absolutely great. For the last three months it has calibrated itself every night, meaning it is very very accurate. Also, it is incredibly tough. I have gone swimming, hiking, skiing, boating, and have played sports with it and it does not show a scratch. The only minor downside is that it has no backlight for the LCDs, but it does have an LED which lets up the hands. And let me tell you from experience: this LED is FANTASTIC for lighting up your room in the middle of the night. It's as if it was made for it. |

I go biking with it
I take showers with it
I go to bed with it
I absolutely love it!!! - it fits my life PERFECTLY! Couldn't ask for a better watch, because for any other watch - it would of totally been broken by now (for me at least). This is one tough watch... I was even curious one time to see if the "G-shock" lives up to its name by smashing my watch against the wall several times. Haha..not really the smartest idea. But the watch still lives on... like it never even happened!! |

Wow. This is a lot watch for the money. Best value around in a classy, cool Casio G-Shock. I have several Casio's, including a Pathfinder PAW-1300-3V (which is very cool), but this G-Shock gives the Pathfinder a run for the money. No the G-Shock doesn't have a compass, barometer or altitude readout but this timepiece has nearly everything else for 1/2 the money.
I only wish the alarm tone was louder - have tinnitus (ringing ears), so the tone is hard to hear. My problem, not Casio's.
Don't hesitate to BUY this watch. |

| Most g-shocks look giant on my wrist, this one fit perfect (male with small wrists). Has all the digital features I wanted used for running, biking and triathlons. The atomic time update works great as well. Besides the sports the watch actually doubles as a higher end watch for going out due to it's clean masculine look and analog time. Highly recommended and an excellent price! |

| I've had this watch for nine months now. I love it. I often wear it at night, in case I wake up and want to know the time. Though the light doesn't show the subdials, it shows the hands perfectly. It has a nice bulkiness. The typical Casio clutter of information on the face is something you like or don't like - I'm fond of it. It's pretty, in an industrial kind of way, with its black plastic, textured face, and shiny metal. It charges well with a bit of sunlight, and picks up the atomic clock time every night - I live in Virginia, and it was also picking up the time for me in England. (I use it to set my other watches and clocks.) It's very durable - I've worn it a lot and it still looks like new. The various settings and functions are intuitive and easy to remember. I'm glad I got it, and if the looks are to your taste, I completely recommend it. |

| Little by little I'm starting to collect watches; nothing crazy, just to mix it up a bit. So far, this is my most versatile watch...Looks it's under a hundred dollars at least on amazon. It's not trying to be Rolex aka Inactiva, an overpriced Kenneth Cole/Guess or Gucci (hey, all good if go want to go that route) My point is, this watch is straight up rugged, it's shock resist,it's solar, it keeps exact time, and best of all, it looks good. Considering all it's features, you're getting an incredible value. Another thing, its surprisingly light! At first, I thought it made it feel cheap, but then realized it makes it even more impressive. If you're looking for an everyday watch that you can wear on the weekend, to the pool, to the gym and then wear to work,,this watch is for you. Just look at all the positive reviews! |

| Had it for a week now, and the watch is surprisingly handsome, light and comfortable. The atomic clock sync works like a charm, and the watch has so many functions, if you're a gadget guy like me, it will keep you occupied like a new toy for days. I love the fact that I don't have to worry about it getting wet, dropped, scratched, muddied or banged, as I would for an expensive dress watch. You can even treat the watch like a virtual pet, angling the watch toward the sun so it "feeds" to recharge its batteries. Purely as nit-picks, the face could be a little bigger, the watch hands more visible, and the fonts on the face a bit larger. Overall, however, it's a great watch and fantastic value for its price. |

Well, except that when we change from standard time to daylight savings time, it's always a big deal. | I use this watch for everyday use as Casio's tend to be nearly indestructable. Solar recharging works great but it took me a while to find a spot in the house where the watch could find the atomic clock signal. This is probably only a coastal issue as I am on the outskirts of the signal area. I would highly recommend it. |
Beautiful All-Purpose Watch
|
| Review Date: January 30, 2009 |
| Reviewer: D. Sauer, San Diego, CA (USA) |
This watch is beautiful and has a classy look to it. It has everything, solar-powered battery, self-adjusting atomic time, waterproof, alarm, hourly chime, stopwatch and timer. It does look better than on the online pictures because it is discreet-looking and the black of the band blends nicely with the grey (a little lighter grey than on the pictures) of the face, and the metal ring. I think it's a sporty watch that goes perfectly with business-casual clothes. It's big, but still looks good because of the combination of dark colors. The hands are actually white, which makes it very easy to tell the time even in somewhat dark conditions. The tip of the hands, along with the tick marks of the hours on the dial glow in the dark.
I gave this product a 4-star rating because of some of the downsides of this watch. The light does not allow reading the digital displays, and the round digital displays are small when looking at the date, the secondary time (from another city), the timer and the stopwatch (imagine 4 digits cramped in the left-hand round digital display). It is fine when the display on the left shows the day of the week (first three letters show). The display on the right always shows the seconds (or 1/100 second with the stopwatch) with big enough numbers. I would have gladly given this watch 5 stars if it had not been for these little inconveniences. Since I wear my watch very casually, not for sports, I try to look for reasonably-priced watches with character and unusual features. This one is perfect and elegant in all social situations, as well as FULLY customizable: date, time (12 or 24H) or day in the left-hand round display,(alarm on/off), hourly chime ON/OFF, atomic auto-setting of the watch ON/OFF, Power saving function ON/OFF, even the beep made when you press the Mode button can be turned off. A great timepiece. |

I've had this watch for a month now and here's my review.
Pros:
Good looking
Solar powered - although I've heard you need to replace the rechargeable battery after some time.
Atomic time - I leave my watch on my desk and it syncs every night.
200M water resistant
Cons:
The band is not as comfortable as my Timex Expedition.
Only 1 alarm time - alarm sound is too weak and sounds for only 10 seconds. It also has no snooze feature.
Timer has 1 minute increments and not seconds
Although the watch has some cons, I would buy it again if mine dies and I recommend this watch.

A Great Watch Has Room to Improve
|

It is a great G-shock watch: atomic and solar powered, analog AND digital, shock resistant and water resistant. But...
It is symmetric, so it is very hard in dark to find the right button to push to turn on its light. You have to trace down the clasp end of the band to orient the watch and to find the right button to push.
The bottom circle on the face is wasting precious area on a watch. It gives totally useless information that most people would not care.
I wish that the band is shorter because the end is sticking out and I need to cut it shorter. The last hole on the band will give a circumference of approximately 10 inches! What percentage of people would have 10-inch wrists in male population?! |
A fantastic compromise!

I had the sister watch to this one, the model AWG101. The AWG100 is much more readable for two reasons: 1) the non-reversed digital displays and 2) the matching hour and minute hand. The AWG101 had a red hour and I found this made at-a-glance time telling to be more difficult. Both watches are super tough and have a good mix of features. As has already been mentioned, the backlight isn't perfect, but let's face it, if you wanted full-readability you'd get an all-digital watch.
Also the subdial is 6 o'clock isn't useful at all. This is the only thing that kept me from giving this watch 5 stars. I can live with it though.
Overall a tough, accurate, strong performer. I definitely recommend it. |
Good value, some performance issues

| This is a great watch, but it is not without its drawbacks. I find that its ability to receive the atomic clock transmissions is weak. I must hang the watch on my venetian blinds on the west side of the house or it does not receive the signal. I previously had a Timex watch that was able to pick up the atomic clock transmissions when I would leave it on my bureau every night. It is disappointing that the Casio watch can't receive the signal as easily. Another small beef is with the size of the three LCD digital cicrles. They could be a little larger. Otherwise, I like the look and feel of the watch and enjoy wearing it. |
The watch is Ok...

| But I was expecting a watch quite bigger. I think that the sight of the seconds could be used for someting else. The light works fine to see the hour with the analog part of the watch but it doesn't work for the digital part at all. It's nice, very usefull. |
Beautiful watch!

| The only reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is because there seems to be only one spot in my house where it seems to receive strong signal for atomic sync. Other than that, this is a Beautiful and rugged watch with tons of features all for under $100. |

| Product was as expected, in new condition when recieved. I am happy with the watch and its features. The solar and atomic features are very convenient. I do agree with some of the other reviews that the light is not very good, it would have been better with a backlight. However you can only fit so many features in such a small area such as a watch face and for such a low price. |

Backlight. It's an orange light coming from 6'o clock. At night, you can barely see the hands, but it's enough to tell the time from that. You get used to it.

Solar analog watch

I needed a new watch for everyday use and settled on this one after a little internet research. I have a large wrist, and this watch fit well with two spaces to spare. It is a large, thick watch but looks well on my large thick wrist so a balancing out enhances the look of the watch. The analog arms are easy to see, and I have become used to the seconds countdown window rather than the traditional arm. Timekeeping is impeccable and, unless a malfunction ocurrs, I expect only to wipe and clean the exterior occcasionally.....a low maintenance plus.
I rated the watch four stars for two reasons: 1. The time zone confirmation indicator seems superfluous; What does it contribute to merit a data window??? I think nothing. 2. The dial lighting function is a great shadowcaster, but makes reading difficult in the dark. A regular backlight would have been better. Overall, I feel this to have been a good choice, and expect many years of good service from this rugged and accurate timepiece. |
Decent buy!

All PROS are mentioned already: Watch looks better in real.
CONS:
- No dual time - This feature is available on even cheaper Casio watches.
- Small circular windows - reading becomes difficult when the hour/minute hands are over the windows
- Only date OR Day available at a time - you have to toggle between the two. The third (bottom) window is slightly wasted - it could show some meaningful info rather than just the DST info
- Luminous hands are not so much visible after some time in dark
But Still: A Very nice deal at this price point. A nice buy and to add to your collection |

| This is a good looking one but the atomic does not work until now even I placed it at the window.I like solar power. I want to let it go without manually changing daylight saving time, and see when it picks up atomic signal. I will update it. |

| This is my first G shock. I find most G shock watches too big but this one has a manageable size. It is also very good looking. I would give it a 5 star if the digital display can be re-arranged. The left digital dispaly is too small to show both month and date. The hour and minute hands can completely block the display making it very difficult to read sometimes. It is OK to show day of the week though because its size is larger. So I really hope the month and date can be moved to the bottom display, which currently shows pretty useless information (atomic clock used depending on your location). I guess Casio engineers want to show off this watch can sync with 5 different atomic clocks around the world. But why would anyone need to know this from the display? You location tells you which clock the watch can sync with anyway! |

| This is my second G-Shock watch, and it was exactly what I expected. It is a high end sport watch. I bought this because I kill nice watches (at least the ones that can be had for $100 or less), but the G-Shocks appear to stand the abuse of spending 8 hours a day on my wrist at work with no complaints. Except for a brief period after daylight savings time starts, its always accurate due to the atomic clock signal. Even the bands are specially made to be tougher than normal (which is why I've never broken one, a rarity for me if not a miracle), the huge (and kind of ugly) rubber-over-metal bumper keeps the face from getting scratched which is good for me as well. This is also a solar powered watch, and my last one is still going strong after more than 4 years, so I can safely say battery life is excellent. The analog display is easy to read day and night, but the extra light is an old pre-indiglo type. I don't really use all the extra bells and whistles, and it's still a little drab looking. On the whole though, its nicer than many sport watches, and won't break. |

| This is a great watch! The more I wear it, the more I like it. I would go with the darker metal color - it looks cooler. The only problem I have is that the atomic signal never really catches hold to make any adjustment. But, with no batteries needed and great looks, I can update the time once every few months sinces it's only off by 15 secs per month. |

| This watch is a good one, it could be improved if offered with a lighter non- rubber(=hot) band, perhaps a canvas or metal option? It is slightly heavy, but sell worth the price. |

| Basically a cool watch, crappy light, digital time is a little small and hard to read when the hands pass in front of it, but its lightweight and has all the neccessary features. Final verdict: Sassy with a touch of class |

| So far this watch has performed to expectations. It synchronizes easily with the time signal at Fort Collins, CO; it is reasonably easy to operate all the functions of the watch and I am very satisfied. |

Overall this is a really good watch. The solar power is great and the watch is tough just like a G Shock should be. I've had it underwater a lot on lakes and rivers and no problem there either. I also like how it looks - it's nice enough to wear at work or anywhere else.
My only complaints: 1)The atomic clock signal that sets the time is weak where I live (Sacramento, CA) and it takes forever to set the time with it. That's if it doesn't error out. Come to think of it the time setting is a bit clunky overall. 2) The light sucks! 3) The band it too stiff to be comfortable enough to wear for really long periods. |
A Woman's POV

I'm a woman. But, I haven't worn anything but men's solar-atomic Casios for years. This because:
1) I don't want to mess with batteries.
2) I'm a stickler for accuracy.
3) I'm a watch killer, and Casios are hard to kill.
4) They look good. Many of the mens' styles look great on women, too, for casual or sporty wear.
Though I DO have the challenge of cutting them down to fit a 5.75" wrist.
I don't often wear Casio womens' watches because:
1) They don't have the gadgets and features that I like.
2) There's a dearth of atomic solar models.
3) They aren't made as well.
That being said, I bought this because my last solar-atomic finally gave up the ghost. This looks good, it's durable, and it has all of the features that I want. The 48-city world time function is GREAT! And, I like to have analog AND digital.
I DO love this watch. The ONLY reason I did not give it five stars is I have had it for two weeks, and cannot get it to make a five-minute correction. I haven't been able to get it to pick up the signal. |
