1st Compass Watch and I Like It

| This is my first compass watch. I was concerned that the compass would be difficult to use and calibrate. After receiving the watch I was easily able to use and calibrate the compass. A neat undocumeted feature of the watch is that the current time is displayed in all modes - world time (which also shows the name of the world time city selected), compass, stopwatch, countdown timer, and alarm. The digits are large and easy to read. The backlight illuminates the digits, not the whole watch face. The cloth band is very comfortable and looks sturdy and well made. All in all a very good value for the money. |
AMAZING WATCH

I've been using Casio products for years now, and I can't complain for their quality!
The SGW100B-3V is not an exception. It came without calibration nor syncronization, but doing it is a piece of cake.
For $50 or less your getting an amazing watch, that's going to last for many years, thats for sure. |

Fantastic Watch

This is a fantastic model from Casio. Accuracy and battery life are never concerns with Casio watches. The few things I am not delighted about with most Casio models are their cheap plastic looks and the rubber watch band which easily breaks.
However, this one looks great due to its beautiful aesthetic design (colour combination inside the LCD display (a sea greenish hue) and of the dial as a whole, the size, font and positioning of the digits, the partitioning of the display into three parts, the elegant main time display). Much better looking than almost any of the G Shock or other digital models.
The compass works great and it has lots of other features - the timer (countdown) being a really useful one for multiple tasks - exercising, cooking, meditating, jogging, whiling (when you want to set aside a specific amount of time for a leisure activity) etc. The band is not the typical rubber which breaks easily (characteristic of Casio watches and one of the weak points of most Casios) way before the watch ceases to be useful but is actually made of some kind of polyester which is quite comfortable, earthy and green in colour.
The temperature detector works very accurately too PROVIDED you take the watch off and let it lie in the ambient temperature for about 15 - 20 minutes.
I own many Casio watches but this one is my favorite along with MDV301D-2AV which is another OUTSTANDING Casio due to its aesthetics, form and overall quality.

Casio Twin Sensor/Digital Compass/Green Nylon Band Sports Watch

| This watch is the best watch that I have ever owned. It killed me when my first watch like this one got stolen. It is so easy to use and to understand. It is also incredibly accurate. Not to mention that it is incredibly comfortable to wear. |
Incredible watch.

| This watch, for the money, has all the features I wanted for an upcoming deployment - compass, temp, world time, nylon band, rugged, backlight, 4 alarms (with snooze), etc... It is comfortable, well made, works great, and easy to use. During my last deployment I spent several hundred dollars on a watch with all of these functions - and while the Suunto was a great watch, it was rubbery and thus, my wrist was sweaty all the time. Additionally, I've always found watches to be annoying... This watch is SO comfortable, I haven't taken it off once since I've bought it. I will highly recommend this watch to all of my friends. |

This has been a great buy for me! It really seems more expensive than it is, and it has been really useful for my everyday use. I haven't really made the best out of the twin sensor sensors, so I can't tell if they are accurate or not, but I believe they are!
Nice buy. |

Great watch except for thermometer!

| I bought this watch recently and as any Casio watch its great looking and worth fully for the price tag. Compass, World timer, Stop watch, Alarm and timer features are great and easy to operate. My only complain is the thermometer which I find practically useless. The instruction manual says watch sensor needs 30 min to adjust to the atmospheric temperature. For instance if you take your watch from warm place to a cold environment it will give erroneous readings for 30 mins!! And if you are wearing your watch, you can't depend on the reading at all since body temperarture will ridiculously increase the reading even in a cold winter day! If you take off your watch and try to measure.. you have to wait 30 mins to get accurate readings. So this sensor is not useful at all for measuring temperature when you are outdoors. Other than this, I like the watch. |

| The display is great - clear and very easy to read outdoors or indoors, in darkness or light. The world city time, chronograph, compass, and alarm modes are very easy to read and use. The only weak points for the watch are that the temperature reading is accurate only if you remove the watch from your wrist and let it sit for a time, and the band is a bit stiff starting out. |
Nice watch.

Like many, I have had Casio watches for years.
This watch is not my first, but it is one of my most recent and favorite purchases of a Casio watch.
First off. No rubber watch band that will break after a few years of use in salt water. This is a rubberized nylon band. Green - not my favorite - but still sturdy.
Second, the watch face is pretty large. And better yet, the digital clock has nice large numbers.
Third, the features are nice. This watch has a digital compass which is fairly easy to set up, but will probably require the use of the internet beyond the instructions. Multiple alarms, stopwatch, timer and world time constitute the features on this watch beyond the compass.
It is sturdily built, with the band, mineral face, a plastic ring around the watch face to prevent scratches, and a very solid feel. However, the watch is quite light as well. It is also supposed to be quite water resistant.
This watch should last for a while. |

| Bought this watch for my brother so he could use it at work. The compass is perfect. Luckily he never uses the thermometer. Like most of the reviews it leaves a little to be desired. "The watch looks to good for using at work", my brother said, but he has and it has saved him alot of time mapping and finding things for his work. I have one similar to it, same brand. I think it is a great time piece and the compass is really handy. Buy one you will be happy. |

Ok all my life I have been the one to get the cheapest little 4 dollar digital watch and stick with it until it breaks than get another..
For the first time in my life I decided to splurge... and get the 50 dollar watch..
The compass works quite well, I thought it would have N E S W and an arrow pointing to whatever it's closer too, no it tells u exactly where north is and gives a degree, I haven't gotten out another compass to see how accurate it is, but it works for me.
Only complaint is the light, it stays on for 1 second. No more or less and holding the button doesn't keep it on, if you're reading the date at night or trying to see anything better speed read..
Other than that I love the band, feels and looks like it cost more than 2 dollars..
The thermometer is crap, inside a room with a temp around 80 degrees it reads 94.. also outside (deployed to Iraq) it's about 120+ and it reads 94 to 98... so it's reading the temp of my skin.
Not bad at all just wish the light either stayed on longer or you could change the timer on it.
Also the 4 alarms are a God-send for my current schedule. |
Best affordable compass watch

I was looking for a waterproof sports watch with compass and stopwatch/timer function in the $50-80 range. For a guy I guess I have skinny wrists, so the Timex watches like #T49686 appealed to me for their smaller size and lesser weight. However my last Timex Expedition (similar plastic design to their digital compass watches) broke quite easily, proving their inferior durability. The Casio more than justifies the miniscule size/weight difference.
Advantages (vs Timex)
Mineral face (vs plastic)
Better water resistance - 200M (vs 100M)
More durable bezel/case (Timex plastic is more fragile, rotating bezel breaks)
Better controls (on Timex you can only increment timer in one direction, not +/- mins)
Cons (don't know about Timex)
The Casio has 4 daily alarms. You can't have different schedules for different days of the week.

Review of Casio Twin Sensor Watch

| Product is extremely durable. Use it all the time and is one of my key tools with Search and Rescue. Has a built in compass and thermometer. Compass is great for basic bearings and can handle setting declination. Pretty accurate in the 16 points if references. The temp reading is pretty much useless as it is attached to your body which greatly impacts its reading. Has several alarms, multi-time zones, stop watch laps and luminescent back light that lights just the number info in light blue. Like indiglo. Have smacked it on tree, rocks, in dirt, through rivers and snow. Works great. Just don't use the temp option. For the price, can't beat it. |

| This is a good watch, but i do have a few small complaints. The strap that holds down the excess band is a flimsy piece of leather and usually it comes undone unless you like to wear your watch super tight. This leaves excess strap hanging off the watch and its kind of annoying. I also expected this watch to be much bigger. In the picture it looks pretty huge and its not. Other than that its a decent watch. |

| I found this watch to be perfect for my needs. The compass is accurate and easy to use. The set instructions are user friendly. Of course, the thermometer is way off due to being on my wrist. You have to take if off and leave it for 15 minutes to get an accurate reading. the watchband is comfortable and easy to use. |

This watch is great. It has lots of functionality that are very useful. Either for outdoor or indoor. The only thing that i less like on this watch is it's strap. When i see the image i taught that the strap is like rubber or somewhat like that but when i receive it already, it is not what i expect. I guess they should not just put the front image but also the whole watch itself. But in overall the watch looks great , durable , it's a good watch to buy.

What temperature?
|
| Review Date: October 28, 2009 |
| Reviewer: Steve Critic, Chicago, IL USA |
| What was Casio thinking? The sensor for the thermometer appears to be on the back of the watch, the part touching the skin! I don't want to know my skin temperature, I want to know the air temperature! You have to take the watch off for 30 minutes to do that. Are you kidding Casio? The rest of the watch is fine, the compass works good, but as far as 1/2 the special features being the thermometer the watch is only 1/2 good! |
Casio Digital Compass Watch

| Review Date: April 2, 2010 |
| Reviewer: R. L. Meleady, Bay Point, CA USA |
The watch is tough and the nylon band is much more comfortable than the usual plastic band you find on most inexpensive watches. I have the following negative comments:
1. The watch is HUGE. It spans my entire wrist. I should have paid more attention to the dimensions.
2. The temperature function is for all practical purposes useless. You have to take the watch off and let it return to ambient temperature before you can get an accurate reading.
3.The compass reading doesn't stay on long enough. Since the bezel doesn't rotate, you have to rotate your whole body to align the indicator with north, or else remove the watch and rotate it. Either way, the indicator is usualy already gone by then. |
Nice features but has problems

| Reviewer: Tom XYZ, Twin Cities MN |
Has nice features which generally work except for iffy thermometer performance as mentioned by other reviewers. You have be moving forward to get compass to work, but it even worked on an airplane for me. However, after about a year the LCD display started occasionally garbaging up - random dots/areas turning on and off. Usually can clear it by cycling thru screens, but appears to be getting more frequent. Also, sharp edges on black frame around the dial have frayed some of the cuffs on my shirts.

The watch is well made. Nylon band is very sturdy.
But the alarm sound is too weak to hear. There is no way you can hear it when you are sleeping.
I don't think it can be used as alarm to wake someone. So the alarm is useless.

compass goes dead

| The compass died soon after calibrating and gives an error message. The only advice i got after searching for a solution was to remove the battery. The compass did reset once and went in error again. Now pulling the battery out doesn't work anymore. I searched this problem in google and other people had it but not very many and there wasn't really any solutions so mabye it's rare, but nonetheless, extra money has been wasted for a plain watch with no compass function so be weary. |
Battery runs out after two weeks
|
| Review Date: January 16, 2010 |
| Reviewer: T. Ceirin, |
I liked the watch until the battery started to run down after two weeks. Read the owner's manual where it says they sell the watch with a "testing" battery, so you can expect it not to last very long. Also, they will not replace it for free, even under warranty, and they charge an exhorbitant price to change it, and you have to pay for shipping. Ridiculous. One star.
Found out the compass and temp. settings stopped working, showed "error" message. At the same time countdown timer malfunctioned. I contacted the merchant and they took back the watch and are arranging for Casio to send me a new one (which was very nice of the merchant). Just hope the new one works ok. |

With no doubt great watch, but it came with a defect
|
| Review Date: February 7, 2009 |
| Reviewer: A. A. R. Mairone, |
I received the watch kind of unprotected, and this is a rather delicate to ship item, it came with certain dust over it. I have read carefully the instructions manual, and is very easy to calibrate, but after doing that rigurously as the manual said, the readings of location and temperature desapear 10 seconds after they appear in the screen, and they do not show again so i have to reset the readings, I don't know why is that happening and i can not correct the defect.
The watch is really great and I like it a lot, but is very dissapointing that it does not work well... |
