I've had my eye on this piece for months, but now that the price has dropped, I've finally given in and treated myself. I literally just got the watch in the mail and am celebrating with this review, so keep in mind that this is only a first impression.
It is a bit different than I was expecting. The band and watch are more polished than the dusty photo suggests. At first, coupled with the chunky size, I was let down that the effect was more Emo than Fallout 3/rugged, but it's already growing on me, and I'm changing my mind. I also think that it'll only get cooler with age/scuffs. The cover can be a little difficult to slide up and down. I haven't decided if this is good or bad, or if it'll loosen with use.
The watch itself has an alarm and a timer, like your standard digital watch. If you have bad eyesight, you may reconsider since the numbers surrounded in black are narrow and the p.m., for example, is only 50% visible because the black sucks it up. For me, the style of the inverted digital more than makes up for it, though. Unfortunately, it also beeps like your standard timex, which I wish could change. Perhaps that's the only significant drawback.
The weight and way the watch wraps to you is very nice (and I haven't worn a watch for years). My wrists are narrow, btw. I'm still impressed with how it joins rugged function with style. I'd compare it to an SUV if SUVs weren't known for crappy manufacture or for attracting a...banal clientele. It's too unique for that anyway.
If you were curious, the day of the month is what's visible when the cover is closed.
All in all, I'm more than happy with my new watch!

The Good:
I love the way this watch looks. The negative display with the darker steel color and the black band is a really great combination. I get a lot of compliments and this style is one that can be worn with casual or dressy attire. The back light is really nice it's a pretty blue color that is vibrant in the dark. The actual electronics/programming of the watch is very simple.

The Bad:
The simple electronics seems kind of 80's technology and cheap...The opening mechanism is not smooth, you kind of have to put a little effort to open the watch at times. My watch sometimes opens in a way that it settles crooked which I can easily fix by wiggling the metal cover a little once its fully extended....to some this might not be noticeable or a big deal, to me it takes away from the smoothness of the watch and kind of makes me think that maybe $130 is a little too pricey for it, but I still love the watch.....Another thing I noticed is that the watch itself out of the box has some imperfections here and there, you could tell that these are totally mechanical from the factory and not due to someone wearing it.....

Overall other than the stuff I mentioned in the BAD portion I am very happy with the watch. When it comes to its function, it does a great job at telling time though opening the watch can be a process sometimes... I would say if you are really driven by style then get the watch because it is so unique there is nothing you can compare it to and it will definitely look good on your arm and get attention..........but if you are someone that needs this to tell time quickly and easily then consider something else and If you are someone that takes their watch and scrutinizes it with a microscope for scratches and imperfections then you might want to skip this watch too.......If there were more options or similar styles by other producers then I may have went with another brand, but for now you are not going to find stuff like this often so.......
