| My boyfriend had an older model of this watch that he wore for work and play for years. He wore it while fighting forest fires and fishing in the PNW, and it held up great. I bought this watch for him as a Christmas gift, and he loved it. It looks great, is comfotable and was reasonably priced. Hopefully it has the lasting power of his previous one. |

great watch with some surprising features... vibrates instead of beeping on the hour - moon stages based on your lat/longitude and an illumination option activated whenever you turn your wrist as if you were looking at the time....
well worth the price! |

I haven't ever seen a watch like this. It's much more than just a sports watch. They have crammed a bunch of features into a small space.
My favorite is the vibrating alarm. I haven't ever seen that on a watch before. The automatic light is amazing as well. You can set the watch so the light comes on when you tip it at a 45 degree angle. This is a feature you can turn on or off.
As far as the other features, I'm not a hunter, but see a lot of uses for non-hunters. The watch actually knows when the sun and moon rise and set based on coordinates for your area. The sound alarm works well. You can set up to 5 different alarms for different times of the day.
If you're a hunter, this is the perfect watch! It tells you the ideal feeding times and hunting times based on coordinates for your area. You would be able to know a bunch of information with minimal body movement.
The only negative is the camouflage wrist band, but that can be easily replaced. It's also a hunting watch, so that's probably a positive if I were a hunter. I just got the watch because I'm a gadget guy. |

I bought this watch for my fishing addicted oldman.
I did all the setup for him. He loves the watch, he wears it even not go fishing. His friends keep asking where to get one.
Its not too big as i thought.
Very nice leather, cloth band and 100m water resist,5stars for the moon phase feature.
Too bad it doesnt have navigator and tide chart, not with $35 lol...
A very nice, fun and afordable gift. |

Pros:
1. Vibrate mode
2. FIVE alarm settings
3. Auto light switch (when activated backlight comes on automatically when the watch position is tilted towards you more than 40 degrees) - really neat!
Cons:
1. No countdown timer.
2. Sporty look (understand it is afterall a fishing/hunting watch; wish had a professional look to go with business attire)
The most useful wristwatch I've had. |
Vibrating alarm works very well

| I had two other watches with audible alarms -- which failed to alert me in crowded areas. This watch's vibrating alarm works very well despite noisy surroundings, and the night light numerals are very clear and readable even without my glasses. I'm very satisfied with the product. Setting it is not intuitive and requires following the written instructions that accompany the watch. |

| This is a nice watch. Easy to read the display and to understand the display. I like all the moon information. The vibrating alarms are great, although I'm not certain it will wake you up. It will also vibrate every hour, if you want it to. It has a timer that can be paused and restarted. The setup is easy but you'll have to go online to find your longitude and latitude and zone number. The watch band is comfortable and I think looks very nice. I never fish, so you don't have to be a fisherman to enjoy it. It would be great for astronomers and anyone who just would like to know what the moon is up to. |

| So far this watch has been accurate with the moon phase. It is very easy to operate and understand. I have only been out a couple of times to fish and it was at times that the watch indicated that the fishing would not be so good and it wasn't, so this feature has been accurate as well. It is also a coll conversation peice. |

| This is a great watch if you are active, and interested in fishing. I use it all the time, and the fishing timer seems to work OK. The watch is lightweight, and it feels comfortable on the wrist. All the other functions are useful, too. I have had sports watches which costed ten times more than this, and this is the one I am most satisfied with, especially considering the price. When it is worn out sometime in the distant future, I will buy a new one! |
Fishing Watch

| My husband requested this watch for Christmas and he loves it. You enter your longitude and latitude and it gives you all kinds of information: time of sunrise and sunset, high tide and low tide and shows the best fishing times. It glows in the dark and is handsome besides. What more can you ask? |
Wouldn't be without it
|
| Review Date: July 20, 2009 |
| Reviewer: Wayne Lipe, Tampa Bay |
I've had one for five years now. I'm here to order another as my band is getting a little ratty. The band is excellent, I'm just a little hard on it. There aren't many watches available with vibration alarms, and I couldn't live without it. It speaks for the usability of the watch that Casio is still making the exact same watch after all these years. One of my reasons for getting a new one now is the fear they will eventually discontinue it.
I actually use many of the features. The four points of the moon give me a much better tide presentation than the G-Shocks with tide displays. It turns out that at my house the tides are high when the moon is straight up and down at full and new moon and low at the horizon points. I have to shift that two hours at quarter moon and have learned to interpolate. So I regularly look at the four points of the moon times and correlate the moon age. Sunrise and sunset are also accurate.
I do wish they would find a better use for the memo memory. Fishermen are supposed to keep such records, but you can't enter enough information to make it useful. You are better off judging fishing times based on tides and conditions, and true solunar tables are a little more variable than the watch. So the fishing times and quality aren't especially useful, but I still occasionally look to see what the watch thinks.
The great feature is the alarm. There are five alarms and you can set them daily or for specific days of the week. The vibration will wake me from a dead sleep. Mine goes off twice a day and on one day of each week. It did that for nearly five years on the original battery. I am the only one who knows it is alarming, which I like.
If I could design the perfect watch it would be similar but with a larger face and smaller bezel. The trend to have large bezels with useless junk printed on them is worse in some other watches, but the watch would be nicer either smaller or with a larger face than with the large bezel. I would also like to see a countdown timer. But despite the minor niggles it is the best watch for me at any price.
Download the user manual in PDF format from Casio. You can blow it up to really see what you are doing. And the search function lets you find stuff quickly when you forget how to do something. |

| This watch is close to perfect. It has all the features I need in a watch, some that are just fun, and some I'll probably never use. I have not found a feature that has failed to perform flawlessly. The price is outstanding. This was the first watch I bought with a vibrating alarm feature. I have difficulty hearing the alarm on many of the newer watches. This one not only has an audible alarm that is easy for me to hear, but it has the vibrating alarm (which has become one of my favorite features). I would highly recommend this watch, especially to those who have difficulty hearing the alarm on their current watch. |

| This casio watch is an excellent product. It has a large digital display that is easy to read for us over fifty. This is my second the first I bought about 6 years ago and paid 39.95. I had to buy a replacement band and paid 20 for it last year. The band is the one drawback, if you wear it in the summer and sweat, it will get into the band and begin stinking later. I removed it and soaked it in detergent and bleach but eventually the smell returned. When I saw the same watch new for $24.95 I jumped at the chance to get a new one. Great product for the price. |

| I bought one when they originally came out. Worked great. When it was only at one or two fish, I would only catch 1 or 2 fish, but when it was at 3 & 4. I did very well most of the time, depending on the weather and barometric pressure too. That is Bass fishing. I sold the old one at a good price that of course still worked, to a guy who wanted it and I bought a new one at the same time.....Will keep using them as long as they keep selling them. |

| I purchased mine for about $30 and it possesses more features than I imagined. I do, however, concur with the review about not having a signaled count down timer..it would have been rather nice. But what in the world does one expect for $30. The manual that accompanies the water is very thorough and provides step-by-step instructions and images for every function. There are so many that a once through is basically forgotten. To fully utilize the watch one much practice with the step-by-step manual instructions several times. I use it as my "wilderness watch" because of its varied functions for journal entry information and trust me, the thing takes a beating and I do not care if I break or loose such because it is so inexpensive. Yet, I have yet to loose or break the watch. I do not wear it every day thus before I head into the back country I go through the manual instructions a couple of times as a refresher. DO NOT DISCARD THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL! |

| For about $30, this watch provides some pretty cool features. I mainly fish the Delta, a California river system with tidal changes. The moon phase actually helps me check tide times. Sunset and sundown features are also useful. Set up takes a few minutes and you do need to find your latitude/longitude coordinates to set it up. |

Fishing watch that works well

| Well, I've used it two weekends and the feeding times were right on target. Of course, when you're fishing saltwater, you still have to be aware of tidal conditions as well as the weather, but if those are normal, feeding times (major and minor) are right on target. The watch is easy to read, a great price and fairly easy to program with the instructions that are included. Setting your Lat/Long GPS location provides an accurate reading on the moon phases. Tilting the watch towards you, automatically lights up the dial in dark conditions. The five year lithium battery is a nice touch. Good value...I recommend it. |

I also like how it vibrates at the top of the hour. The strap is comfortable too. I don't even know I'm wearing it. Not something you'd wear with a suit probably. This most recent purchase of a Casio Men's Pathfinder Forester Fishing Moon Phase Watch is a backup to my orginal watch of similar design. My First Mate and I use these watches on a daily basis, and our records will verify that they are an indispensible part of our fishing strategy. As I am sure you are aware of, the moon phase is not the only factor you need to be aware of in planning for a successful fishing trip, but it is far too important to ignore.

You can imagine what a pleasant surprise this watch has been! I love the vibrating alarm most of all. I do have to keep the booklet handy to turn of the "time to go fishing" alarms. I'll admit that I don't wear this watch when I dress up. But you won't find anything out there with all of these outdoors features at this low of a price. |

| I'm starting to hate this watch because it actually works well at predicting good fishing times and the alarm feature has been teesing me, lettimg me know all of the good fishing moments that I'm missing out on here at work. It's a great thing to have when you can actually get out to go fishing! I do wish there was a watch that had all of these features and also included a tide chart. The place I put my boat in at is too low at low tide so that would be a very helpfull feature to have. Other than that I love it - but starting to hate it! |

The Heel of Achilles
|
| Review Date: March 5, 2010 |
| Reviewer: Zedzian, Benicia, CA |
Superb feature set for the money, only thing that comes close is a $600 YES watch (just say NO.) The weak link in this package is the band, which apparently doesn't wear very well, according to other reviewers.
So I'm trying something different with this nylon band; I just wear the watch most of the time, even in the shower. That way the perspiration gets cleaned away. Also, I think a lot of wear on the band comes from taking it on and off, I've noticed wear exactly where the buckle touches the nylon on the sides of the band. So my solution is to keep it on, whenever possible. Keeping the band clean and minimizing wear by not taking it on and off should add many years of service.
And it would be even better if Casio didn't use their "proprietary" configuration for the lugs, and made it possible to use ANY 24mm band--pure leather, silicone rubber, metal, whatever.
But THEN they couldn't sell you another watch in X years. I believe this watch generally outlives its band, and a new band is nearly as much as a whole new watch, including band! Not a great idea, when one is strapped for cash, pun intended. |

If I was only buying this for the watch itself, I would still buy it at this price. Great watch. Easy to read for my old eyes.
Pros: great price, water resist, easy to read, tons of fishing options, moon phases, daylight and nighttime time of day with easy see graph, heavy duty and has not scratched even when banged on sharp rocks and such, automatic backlight, silent vibrating alarm to keep from scaring off fish, nice band.
Cons: have to manually punch in the latitude, longitude, and time offset for where you are to get the correct location fishing times. Watch is a bit large for my small wrist (wish they made it in a child's or women's size that would fit my arm better), not an atomic watch, has no compass |

| This is a great watch for fishermen. My husband swears by it's accuracy and wears it anytime he's near the water or just hanging out with the guys, just in case they go on an impromptu fishing expedition. The only critique he has is that the watch does not have a compass and can not tell you the tide of the water (high tide and low tide), but he still loves it. It's sturdy too! I would definitely recommend giving this well-priced watch as a gift for the adventurer in your life. |
Casio Men's Pathfinder Forester Fishing Watch - For Child's Use
|
| Review Date: August 27, 2010 |
| Reviewer: JNoble, |
| We had been advised by a pediatrician to purchase a vibrating watch for our young daughter to remind her to go to the bathroom. The quite expensive Malem child's watch we purchased through The Bedwetting Store proved to be of poor quality, was not water resistent enough to withstand even handwashing, and didn't last long. The replacement watches we looked at all appeared to be similar. We came across the Men's Casio Fishing watch, and purchased it for less than half of the child's watch. It is sturdy, waterproof (even in the bathtub), fairly easy to program and actually works. It is a little bigger than the child watch, but not much heavier. We replaced the band with a red leather one (which was a little tricky due to the non-standard band) to make the watch child-like. It looks cute on her, she likes it, and it works for it's intended purpose (timed voiding). |

| For the serious fisherman, you can increase your fun by using all the neat features found in this watch. It may seem confusing at first, but after a careful reading of the instructions, a lot of neat stuff is at your fingertips. Not only does it tell time, has a stopwatch and is water proof, you can determine the best fishing time, moon phase, sunrise/sunset anywhere on earth. It also has a fish counter with a corresponding time stamp of the catch. I cannot hear high frequencies, but the vibrator alarm works great with the various alarms. I use it as an alarm clock. Pretty cool stuff for a wrist watch. |

| The learning curve on this watch if you use it for fishing may take some time. The moon phase is nice to know about and the sunrise and sunset is pretty cool too, but I didn't give this watch 5 stars because for the money it didn't give me the one option I used more than any other on previous cheaper watches, a timer. This one has the stopwatch but there is no timer you can set for say 10 or 15 minutes. It keeps great time so far, but that's typical of Casio. The backlight is very bright, enough so that you can almost use it as a flashlight, and the option on this model where you can set it for the backlight to come on everytime you hold your arm a certain way is cool. If you're looking for a good water proof timepiece and you don't really care about the timer issue, this is the one. And yeah I'm vain about what it looks like on my arm; it looks manly and cool. |

| I collect watches, but didn't have a special function watch like the casio. It is really a lot of fun wearing it. I would have given it five stars, but it was a little difficult setting up the functions. |
Great watch and very masculine

The last watch I really liked was the Timex Messenger with global local time synchronization and built-in Yahoo Messenger. I bought that one in 2001 and kept it until it died 5 years later.
This one has a different set of cool features -- daylight and fishing, moon transits, sunrise and sunset, face-tilt auto-illumination, ... and memos.
The fishing memos allow you to create a trail of breadcrumb timestamps with quick button clicks and auto-deletion at the end of the day. I am sure birdwatchers, crimefighters, traffic monitors, and others will find it equally useful.
At its price this watch is a steal but of course in a costlier model I would like to see better connectivity for all that data. |

| I'm sort of a "watch guy", i.e. I typically spend more money than I should on mechanical watches that do little more than tell the time. That being said, I got a yen for something cheap and digital with a few nifty features as a change of pace. I was attracted to this watch for the moonphase, fishing info, and the fact that it's not insanely large and chunky as so many similar watches are. I expected to like this watch, but I have really taken to it. By far, the coolest things about it (and I really didn't know of these features when I bought it) was the graphical sunrise/sunset display and the vibrating alarms. I have always hated the annoying little beeps, especially those that go off every hour, although I appreciate the utility. I really appreciate the hourly vibrating alarm because it doesn't annoy those around me. The graphic daylight display is also a really cool feature that I find myself noticing whenever I'm glancing at the time. I stop just shy of giving this watch five stars ONLY because it does lack a countdown timer (a simple feature every digital watch should have) and the fact that Casio and every other lower end watch maker seems to refuse the relatively inexpensive inclusion of a scratch-proof synthetic sapphire crystal. Although all high end watches use this nearly indestructible material, it really is not very expensive. Otherwise, it is hard to go wrong with this one. |

| This is a nice watch. I bought it because my really nice watch was getting tore-up and also because I was dissatisfied with another fishing watch I had recently returned. It's functional, stylish, fairly comfortable and easy to operate! I really like the fish/hunt/moon/ sunrise/sunset features of the watch! |

I bought this for my husband because he loves to fish and what better thing to get a fisherman than a fishing moon and sun phase! Since I bought it for him, they have been inseparable! After 2 years the watch still looks really good, it has been with him in Iraq, through combat training, and safely back home, so that should give you an idea of how durable the material is. Can't beat it for the price and if it puts a smile on your man's face then it is most definitely priceless ;-)
It is water resistant, has a chronograph, and it looks better than just a sports watch. The only thing that would make it 5 stars is if it had a compass, but nothing is perfect so this is close enough! |
Nice but Big

| I bought this watch to see if it could work as a woman's watch (narrow wrist) because it is the same dimensions as the new purported "woman's" Pathfinder watch (which costs $150 and I had no way to try that one on ahead of purchase). This is a good watch & I enjoy the nylon/leather band & moon phases features. The swivel pin attachment of the band is the only way this watch can fit on my wrist. I have to set it on the 2nd hole also. Really, I call it too big (too thick, to large a diameter) for my wrist, but what can I do? Until Casio makes a decent REALISTICALLY-sized woman's watch with the cool G-Shock, Atomic Timekeeping, and Solar-powered features...this is a good second choice. For the price, it's great. |

| This watch has the same solid workmanship that you expect from Casio. I have no arguments or concerns about the normal watch functions, however the vibrating alarm feature is a bit weak. The vibrating alarm feature is why I bought this watch because due to recent hearing loss I need an alternative method for being awakened. The vibrating alarm is active for a very short period of time -- not long enough to ensure that I will wake up every time, hence not fit for the purpose I bought it. If you are a very light sleeper it may work for you or if you are using it to silently alert you during waking hours, it would be perfect. |

| This watch has lots of interesting features. I particularly like the moon phases and outer rim day/night sunset/time indicator.(-something I've never seen on a watch!)If you're into fishing, which I'm not, it also shows the best fishing times.(-unusual...) The band is khaki brown with a nice leather touch. It has the usual other functions of all digital watches.(-timer, alarm etc.) The only thing I would suggest Casio consider is making it a bit thinner. It is thick but lightweight and comfortable enough to compensate for that, if you don't mind. Also, I believe the ad said it had a mineral crystal. It is "plastique"... Otherwise, a good value with some cool functions. |
No probs here.

| I like the band on this watch. For a nylon and vinyl strap it is strong, comfortable. Good to have in a fishing watch as it will get wet and will not deteriate. The Moon / fishing calculator was easy to program when instructions were followed, but have had a bit of trouble understanding what the 4 times were referencing and question its accuracy. I will just have to take the time to learn a bit more. I like the vibration setting, no beep if desired on hourly chime, alarms, etc which is nice. The feature that turns on the light when tipped up for viewing is also nice. It can be turned on for 3 hours just by holding in the light button for 3 seconds. Nice for when hands are busy at night. All in all I think it is a good value for the price. |

This watch is handy for figuring sunrise and sunset times, rounded to the nearest five minute interval. I haven't used the 'fish memo' feature because I'm too busy fishing to push the button.
I haven't decided if the 'fishing period' information is useful yet, but this watch certainly makes it easy to obtain the information, even for other than the current day.
It can be difficult to read the outer ring that indicates the fishing periods due to the shadow cast by the surrounding bezel.

| I really like the fishing/moon phase feature. So far, both have been very accurate. Just a couple things I don't like: the plastic face should be glass as it scratches easily, reading the black spots around the outside can be hard to see in certain light conditions. Other than that, this watch is a great value for the price. I would recommend this watch for outdoor person that likes to plan according to moon phase(s) and sunrise/sunset times. |

| I am enjoying my watch, fantastic if you depend on moon phases for work or recreation. Setting the watch is a little tricky. Reading the manual is key to properly utilize all the functions you paid for, but that is not unusual for a watch with a wide variety of options. It does, however, fit a little awkward if you wear your watch on the underside (palm side) of your wrist. I am not disappointed in my order. |

This watch is sturdy, easy to read, has many useful functions and doesn't look bad either. I've been wearing it quite a bit while performing daily tasks that require me to not worry about banging it on something. The only negative is that the instruction manual is not much bigger than a postage stamp; difficult to read or find things. But overall this is a good solid timepiece.

Great watch...expensive band

I really like my pathfinder watch. I got it about 7 months ago and have been wearing it almost every day since then. I love the vibration feature. I can set up to five alarms when I am at work, or in any quiet place, that will alert me without disturbing those around me. It also vibrates on the hour to keep me on track. The back light feature also works well, it even has a cool feature that turns on the back light when you tilt your wrist.
I would have given this watch five stars except for one annoying feature; the end of the band is a unique shape and I have had trouble finding a replacement band at a reasonable price. So far, the only ones I have found are almost as expensive as just buying another watch. So, if you want a good watch with a vibration feature this one works pretty well, but if you want to customize your watch band or replace the band when it gets old, the design might frustrate you. |

I've had a Suunto X-Lander for the last 8 years. It's on its last leg so it was time to buy something new. I remember a bunch of friends buying the Pathfinder watches because they had a lot of the same features as the Suunto. And they were "big watches"... a trend among my friends. Big = Cool.
I started looking at a getting a Suunto and realized I wasn't ready to spend that much on a watch again despite having gotten enough miles out of it to consider it a good investment.
I also searched Pathfinders and found the fishing/hunting models as well as the 2-sensor compass watch for about the same prices... and at a minimum $260 cheaper.
So it was decision making time.. the compass or the moon-phase watch. both seemed like pretty cool features. I didn't use the compass on my Suunto too much after the novelty of it worn off. So I was already leaning toward the other one.
However... I neither hunt nor fish. But for the price I was able to overlook the fact that it was unlikely I would use this feature.
I bought it of course... the fishing one over the hunting one because it looked like the band on the hunting one was camo... which I didn't want.
I received it yesterday (in record time).
First impression... a lot smaller than i was expecting. Not a "big watch" by any stretch.
The features? I'm still reading the booklet... which is huge but only because it's got every language under the waning moon.
Everyone seems to rave about the vibrating alarm feature. It certainly wasn't a selling point for me.. I have a vibrating phone which is annoying enough. Plus I rarely use a watch alarm.
The wrist-turning light-on feature is cool. I noticed it last night in bed... and thought "isn't that groovy".
One of the reasons I went with this one was because it sounds like it has a scratch resistant face... which I'll put to the test since I beat on watches like some people beat on women that mouth off too much.
I bought a cheap Coleman watch from Target a week before and not only did the face scratch within hours of buying it (I think it was actually a spontaneous scratch) but the battery died in 3 days.
The nylon band is moderately comfortable, but I can see buying a new, Velcro sport band sooner or later.
BTW... if you want to know what the moon-phase will be on Tuesday 2008 Cinco de Mayo it'll be two phases from a full moon if I'm reading this thing right. The sun will also set at 7:25am and rise at 5:20am. Guess how I know that... buy the watch and find out. Assuming I'm reading it correctly. |
Well constructed, but sunrise/set times are off on my unit.

The watch is easy enough to program. However, for where I live (San Jose, CA) my time zone right now in GMT is -7, as indicated in the book (due to DST). So I set the watch to that, as well as my longitude (37N, 122W). However, the sunset sunrise times come up 2 hours fast. !?
I have to set my time zone to -5 in order to get times right. Has anyone else come across this? Or a solution other than exchanging the watch? I will probably just exchange it and see in the parking lot whether the watch does this or not. If so I guess I'll have bought two duds. Hopefully it works though. I think the watch is nice and well built. The alarm is certainly loud enough! |
Great watch, band won't work for small wrists and can't be replaced

| I liked this watch and all it does. I'm a guy with a small wrist, so the size of the face is perfect. However, the band, does not adjust down to my wrist size( 7 1/4). Also, Casio doesn't make a different replacement band, and the face is so unique you can't buy an after-market band because it won't fit. Sadly, I had to return the watch because I can't use it. |

| It seems like a good watch on initial glance. But mine needs a replacement band. Has anyone attempted to find or pay for a replacement band? It's expensive (around $20). So if this watch is for you, remember that all watches need replecement bands. It's just that this one is expensive and hard to find. |

Cannot wake up reliably everytime
|
| Review Date: September 13, 2009 |
| Reviewer: Amazon Shopper, |
This is a wonderful watch in every other way but the primary purpose I bought it for was the five alarms and the beeping or vibrating function. I knew that the beeping alarm may not wake me up everytime, and it didn't (I woke up 1 1/2 hours late). So I switched to the vibrating alarm. It woke me up the first time, but this morning it didn't, even though I was waking up every 30 minutes and checking the watch.
Another problem is the bright backlight lights up the whole watch face including the numerals, and without glasses it is not easy to distinguish the numerals. If only the numerals lighted up, they would be easier to see.
Also if you wake up before the alarm goes off and want to turn off the alarm, it is not easy to do so. First you have to switch to the alarm setting screen out of 6, then you have the choose the right alarm screen out of 6, then you have to be able to see the tiny alarm on symbol to see whether you turned it on or off, indistinguishable at night because of the bright backlight.
The watch is lightweight but bulky so it is not suitable for wearing everywhere.
I am returning it and going back to the cheap travel alarm clock that wakes me up reliably everytime.
